Hadley Hemingway

 In September 1921 Hadley Richardson married Ernest Hemingway taking on his surname, the marriage only lasted some six years. Hadley was an heiress and had an annual income of around $3000 from a trust fund, despite the impression Ernest gave of living in poverty, the Hemingways lived rather comfortably. The money allowed Ernest to focus on his literary ambitions without having to worry about putting food on the table and they could afford trips to Spain to watch the bullfights which Ernest enjoyed. Although they had enough money to go on holidays and indulge themselves, they lived in a quaint apartment on the Paris Left Bank: 

 In That Summer in Paris, Ernest and Hadley have already been separated for a couple of years by the time Callaghan arrived in Paris. Thus, her role in the text is rather menial. I used the tool Voyant in order to see the actual ammount of times which Hadley is mentioned in the text:
